HE200 5cm² - This is the best turbo for a stock pump. Your max power isn't increased (much), but the increase in power from idle up to ~4000 RPM is extremely significant. It makes the OM617 behave like it's supercharged. It performs best in rock crawling, stop/go traffic, and highway speeds below 4000 RPM. Morning all-I had started a thread on this build in the general tech thread, but now that I'm getting a better idea of the challenges, most of them involve the OM617. Had my 88 MJ since august of 18 and put a lot of work in it making it my own. Added a RC 4.5 lift and their steering stabilized, and added new 15” method wheels and new 31” MT tires. JCR bumpers front and rear with their headache rack. LOTS of cutting and fitting but maybe it's an easier fit in a Ranger. The exhaust is pretty simple - just a pipe out of the engine bay. The first section of the Mercedes pipe will make the exhaust work easier. Any radiator for a 5.0/Ranger swap should handle the cooling. I am not familiar with the OM617 numbers, but if it is a turbo, you would need to change the rear end ratio (higher=lower numerically) to get anything close to 30 MPG.The OM617 is the way to go for a daily driver in a Jeep or small pickup - it was designed for luxury daily drivers. They are very simple, quiet, decent fuel consumption and do not require re-gearing. An increase in mpg is a plus but I am more interested in the torque that a diesel can supply at lower revolutions. 20mpg eh? <snicker> Justin has said that about the OM617 in that 40, but I don't know what he's basing that on. I did Argentine Pass on a run he was on with that truck a few months ago (three diesels on the RS 40's only run, the Mercedes, a 3B-turbo, and a 13BT) and didn't see it have any issues with power, but I did notice it was smoking more ….
